For initial evaluations, in-person appointments are preferred whenever possible to help establish rapport, conduct a more comprehensive assessment, and support high-quality care from the beginning of treatment.

Additionally, federal regulations may require an in-person evaluation prior to prescribing controlled substances including stimulants (Adderall, Ritalin), benzodiazepines (Klonopin or Ativan), and certain sleep medications (Lunesta and Ambien).

Dr. Bui is an out of network provider. When requested, we can provide a detailed receipt called a “superbill” that you can use to submit for your insurance for reimbursement. Reimbursement will depend on your insurance policy.

Yes. I offer therapy-informed psychiatric care and extended follow-up visits that may include psychotherapy in addition to medication management.

Therapy may focus on coping skills, stress management, mood patterns, relationships, life transitions, and building insight into your experiences. I most commonly employs cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and supportive therapy.

If you already have a therapist, I am happy to collaborate with them when helpful and with your permission.

For certain patients, I may recommend high frequency visit with a dedicated therapist. I am happy to give a list of referrals.

Controlled substances, including stimulant medications, benzodiazepines, and certain sleep medications, are prescribed only when clinically appropriate after a careful evaluation.

Because these medications may carry risks, a prescription is not guaranteed. Recommendations are based on diagnosis, treatment history, safety considerations, prior records when needed, and ongoing monitoring. For new patients, an in-person evaluation may be required before controlled substances are prescribed.
